Mixed models occur when we have a design and analysis in which there are both fixed and random effects.

When we have such mixed models we should use PROC MIXED. We include the fixed effects in the model statement, and the random effect(s) on the random statement. One type of mixed model is an RCBD (see the appropriate section).
