Often rather than normally distributed data responses we have categorical responses. There are several type of categorical responses (where the response, or dependent variable falls into 1 of several categories):

• Binary responses : Yes/No, All-or-None, Alive-or-Dead, Success-or-Failure, etc.
• Ordinal responses : Healthy - mildy ill - severely affected.
• Non-ordinal responses : Preferences of type of fast food: Choose from Macdonald's, Wendy's, Burger King, KFC, Saint-Hubert, etc.
